Permaculture

Permaculture is about desiging ecological human habitats and food production systems. It is a land use and community building movement which strives to harmoniously integrate human dwellings, microclimate, annual and perennial plants, animals, soils, and water into stable, productive communities.

The focus is not on these elements themselves, but rather on the relationships created among them by the way we place them in the landscape. This synergy is enhanced by mimicking patterns in nature and by carefully using energy to make things happen.

Permaculture is a design system that makes use of elements and concepts found in our natural world. It works with nature and considers building blocks in nature as proven designs that could solve many of the problems we face on a daily basis. Permaculture in itself is based on proven solutions developed by nature and tested by mankind over long periods of time. It provides solutions, which are cheap and long lasting; solutions, which are based on the connections and relations we establish in our surroundings.

Permaculture is a cross discipline science which is directed to combine all knowledge known to us. It is a life-long re-active learning process, which challenges a deeper study of the relationships between the different sciences known to us.

Permaculture is a design systems that is knowledge-based and therefore closely related to relevant education.
